Combining art and scientific knowledge, scholars developed a visual representation of the planets to aid in recalling the celestial bodies in our solar system.

United Way of the Lowcountry is working in partnership with the Jasper County School District to ensure that the scholars at the Summer Reading Camp have access to books. Educators are ensuring that students utilize these books to build their home library, featuring both fiction and nonfiction titles. We are grateful for the long-term partnership with the United Way of the Lowcountry.

Our scholars took to the computer lab to build computer programs to make their projects come to life. The projects infused art, computer programming and electrical engineering to create these awesome devices. They connected the circuits to the lights and motors and used the computer program to make it move and light up.

The program featured dancing, singing, poetry, musical numbers, and theater arts. The show was enjoyed by everyone. Congratulations to our scholars who practiced throughout the summer and performed fearlessly. We want to extend a special thanks to the professional educators who helped make this event possible!

We will begin The Early Start Program on July 8, 2024.

Activities include creating kaleidoscopes, making paper circuits, testing different colors in the sun, making solar ovens, and creating cardboard robots.
