JCSD's 5th-grade students from Hardeeville Elementary and Ridgeland Elementary Schools attended the Beaufort Jasper Water Sewer Authority's Inaugural STEM Sustainability Fair. Students were able to view exhibits, participate in lessons, and games. The focus of this STEM experience was to enhance our students' knowledge of sustainable practices with a focus on water reuse, solar energy, water source, water quality, irrigation, and to provide them with an overall awareness of water safety.

Mr. Rick Patel, via the Rick Patel Foundation, donates four pallets of hand sanitizer to Jasper County School District. This was over 2,000 bottles.

We know that students who read just twenty minutes per day benefit greatly. JCSD encourages all students to make reading a daily habit. Parents and guardians can play an important role by encouraging their children to make reading an integral part of every day. Today, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, a student was in possession of a loaded gun clip on the Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence.

There was NO gun found on campus. At no time was anyone in danger and the gun clip was confiscated immediately as the student and the belongings entered the secured area of the campus.

The gun clip was detected when the student entered through the school’s metal detectors.
Immediately, staff and campus SROs confiscated the item, and the student was detained without incident.

Jasper County School District uses metal detectors, daily, in all schools.
Parents are encouraged to speak with their children regarding safety and items not to bring on the bus or to school.

The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to Jasper County School District. At no time will unsafe actions be accepted or supported.

Hardeeville Junior High School started the week off with Mondays Matter in Science!

On Monday, November 14, 2022, HJSH scholars were engaged in lab learning!

High School Chemistry students lab day included the “Monitoring Phase Change of Water and Heating Curve Graph”.


Middle School Science engaged in “Building Circuits”.

High school students will begin EOCEP assessments as early as November 29th which occurs upon the return after the Thanksgiving break.

Ridgeland Elementary School's first grade students participated in STEM activities and a STEM project using the new JCSD science curriculum alignment document to distinguish the difference between artificial light and natural light. Students were able to identify various types of light sources and complete the pin hole box challenge to determine if light is needed to see various items. This challenge allowed students to conduct an investigation to determine the effect of placing various objects in the path of a beam of light. At the end of this lesson, the students in this first-grade class were able to make observations to support the claim that objects in the dark can only be seen when illuminated by light sources.

Kudos to our Superintendent, Dr. Rechel Anderson. Dr. Anderson had an opportunity to share with many professionals how mental health and the school's environment play a part in the overall well-being of students.

The Hardeeville Junior Senior High (HJSH) Beta Club collects canned goods. As of Friday November 4, 2022, 478 cans were collected. This is the Beta Club's first canned food drive of the season. HJSH Beta Club will donate to the local food pantry prior to Thanksgiving Week! Way to go HJSH Beta Club! Lead by example in a POSITIVE and PRODUCTIVE way!
