FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 17, 2020
As we continue to navigate through this time of uncertainty in our nation due to COVID-19, we encourage everyone to remain safe, adhere to the CDC Guidelines, and practice compassion when dealing with others.
Jasper County School District completed a successful week of LEAP (Learn, Evaluate, Analyze, and Prepare), August 10-14, 2020. As approved by the General Assembly, 4K-8th Grade students, in the district, participated in five (5) additional instructional days at the start of the school year. The LEAP days were mandatory for all districts and were to be used for face-to-face assessment activities and/or instruction. We had the pleasure, in JCSD, of assessing our students and preparing for their virtual learning experience.
Unfortunately, JCSD was recently notified that three staff members at Ridgeland Elementary School (RES) tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, the Ridgeland Elementary School Staff has been asked to be tested, quarantine, and work from home until further noticed. The administration at RES has only contacted parents of any child who may have been in contact with a staff member who has tested positive.
The district remains open, with the exception of Ridgeland Elementary School; however, masks are required of all and must be worn properly (completely covering one’s nose and mouth) when on any campus/facility, and when operating any district owned vehicles, including buses.
