Safety Update: Hardeeville Campus Security Precaution
Jasper County families,
Today, a live round of ammunition was discovered in a bathroom during routine safety checks at Hardeeville Junior & Senior High School. Out of an abundance of caution, school administrators immediately placed the campus on lockdown while staff and school resource officers conducted classroom and book bag searches to ensure there were no additional weapons or ammunition on campus. The Hardeeville Police Department also responded to the school to assist with the security procedures.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. As an added precaution, additional security personnel will be present on the Hardeeville campus for the foreseeable future. We will also add additional walk-arounds to our normal security protocols.
As a reminder, Jasper County School District schools utilize metal detectors and bag scanners daily as part of our safety protocols to help mitigate the possibility of weapons entering our campuses. We also work closely with school resource officers and local law enforcement to maintain a safe learning environment.
We appreciate the cooperation of our students and staff as we continue to prioritize safety across our district. Parents, we encourage you to monitor and check what your children are bringing to school. You are the first line of defense. Our students should only bring instructional materials on campus.
