The One Jasper Family came together today to officially launch the 2026–2027 school year with a shared commitment to our scholars, our staff, and our community.

As we begin this year’s theme, Building on the Brilliance of Jasper, we recognize that brilliance already exists within every scholar, every educator, and every member of our Jasper community. This year is about recognizing, nurturing, and building upon the unique talents, gifts, strengths, and limitless potential already present in our schools.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Laura Hickson welcomed staff back and reinforced the vision for the year ahead, emphasizing the importance of creating positive conditions where all learners can grow, achieve, and succeed. She highlighted the district’s three priorities: Safety, Quality Education, and Transparency, along with the four pillars that will guide our work: Culture, Climate, Curriculum, and Community.

Dr. Hickson also challenged the One Jasper Family to work together toward the shared goal of Coloring Jasper Green by creating a culture of high engagement and shared responsibility for student success across every school, classroom, department, and home.

Our celebration was led by Keith L. Brown, motivational speaker, author, and educational consultant, who brought incredible energy and excitement to our staff. His memorable refrain, “G-double-o-d-j-o-b, Good Job, Good Job!”, will continue to encourage and inspire our One Jasper Family throughout the school year.

Dr. J.R. Green, retired superintendent of Fairfield County Schools, delivered the keynote address, reminding us of the importance of recognizing the brilliance that already exists within our scholars and community.

Following our pep rally-style convocation, staff enjoyed lunch prepared by our amazing cafeteria team, with support from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, who helped grill hamburgers and hot dogs for our One Jasper Family.

The day concluded with professional learning sessions led by district leaders focused on strengthening systems and supporting student success, including:

Jasper County School District is offering a second opportunity for in person registration for the 2026 to 2027 school year.

⏰ 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
⏰ 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

🗓 Tuesday, July 21
⏰ 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
⏰ 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

📍 Registration will be held at both the Hardeeville and Ridgeland campuses.

All students, both new and returning, must register for the upcoming school year. Parents and guardians should bring:
✅ A valid photo ID
✅ Proof of residency
✅ Required immunization documentation

Accepted proof of residency includes:
• Electric bill
• Water bill
• Rental or lease agreement
• Property tax document
• South Carolina DMV vehicle registration

Building on Brilliance starts with helping every scholar feel confident on the first day of school. We're excited to share this opportunity from our community partner, ACE.

ACE is offering FREE Back to School Haircuts on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Haircuts and styles will be provided by the talented ACE Cosmetology and Barbering students.

Yesterday, our Content Specialists and Lead Teachers from every campus came together to prepare for a successful 2026-2027 school year.

Teams collaborated to finalize pacing guides, refine curriculum maps, and begin planning engaging lessons that will help every scholar succeed from day one. As Superintendent Dr. Laura Hickson shared in her welcome message, our goal is to "recognize, nurture, and build upon the brilliance that already exists within each child."
